The Ussuri customs officers prevented a smuggling of more than 10 tons of aquatic biological resources – salmon caviar and scallop – to China at the Kraskino and Poltava Check points (Primorye territory). The cargo was detained as a result of joint actions with the Primorsky transport Prosecutor's office and the Russian Security Service of the Primorsky territory.

The illegal export was organized by two Russian companies. An entrepreneur from Vladivostok filed a customs declaration for export to China of 8.2 tons of frozen salmon red caviar packed in 25 kg plastic containers (327 packages). During customs check it was found that the documents are invalid. The man faked the necessary documents for registration of a veterinary certificate.

Another Russian citizen tried to export 2.6 tons of live scallop to China. During the inspection it turned out that the documents are invalid: a valuable biological resource was tried to be exported under the cover of guise of artificially grown. The Director of the company did not provide documents confirming the legality of the scallop's origin.

Due these facts of smuggling of strategically important resources the Ussuri customs initiated three criminal cases under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation. The article provides for a fine of up to one million rubles, or imprisonment for up to seven years.
